Run
Comments: This was my second ever race at 13.1 miles. My trainig has been decent (18-22 miles per week) but my lack of speed work showed today. I got off to a decent start but hit a nasty wall from mile 7-12. Also, a 3 minute pee stop at mile four didn't help my time (but it did wonders for my bladder). I had fun though...was able to talk to some runners, yelled "Freebird" to one of the bands on the course...just had a good time. What would you do differently?: Be mentally tougher at mile 7 and work through the wall. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, talked to some Donk members...watched joe runner get her trophy. Nice to catch up with jmwebs and PeterAK. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed training, have a more consistent long run during training. Work issues cancelled some weekday runs as well. Oh, and about 20-30 pounds too many. On a happy note, I felt much better at the end of the race and the next day as well. I think my fitness is better than a year ago, but I do need to get lighter. Event comments: Nicely stocked aid stations (gel, endurolytes, water, Gatorade). The sponges were great at mile four but needed more of them later in the race as the temps rose. Some of the water was from a well and it upset my stomach (thankfully not until after the race). Last updated: 2008-07-28 12:00 AM

Woke at 5:10, ate a bagel and a banana, drank some OJ. Drove to race site (15 minutes from home).
Got my timing chip, used the potty (PeterAK was waiting for a stall), ran a round the parking lot. Made my way to the line, saw PhilE, jmwebs and joe runner.
