Swim
Comments: Had a great start, led the women the whole way. Swam very straight, sighted well. Maybe a bit wide on the turn around buoy, but not bad. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Pretty dizzy climbing the bank out of the water, still stumbling in transition. Socks, shoes, sunglases, and away I went. Add 4:00 for tranisition run from pond to bike rack. What would you do differently?: I'm going try to find out how to prevent such dizziness. Take more time to dry my feet. Tie shoes tighter!!! Bike
Comments: Happy with my bike time. Maybe could have pedaled harder. Took me a long time to catch my breath. I think I shifted perfectly. Almost got sucked into loose gravel on the inside of a corner going uphill, but was able to pull out of it. What would you do differently?: Pedal harder, really. Transition 2
Comments: No transition necessary. Just tossed my bike to a bike catcher, threw my helmet on the grass and kept going. Run
Comments: Had to stop to tie my shoes, as they were very sloppy. I knew Becky might catch me, but I gave it all I had. What would you do differently?: Tie my shoes tighter at the bike. I only lost by 3 seconds, and this could have made the difference. No biggie, though. It is only my second year, and I am not a great runner. I do have plans to make myself faster over the next month, and then over the winter. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and cheer for everyone else coming in. Waiting for my daughter to finish the run part of our relay. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run pace. Event comments: Total participation, including team members= 22. This was only our second year. It is an awesome race to get locals (in Montana that means anyone within a 3-state area) involved in triathlon. Short swim course, excellent for OWS experience. Bike course is fun to ride. Awesome BBQ afterward! Last updated: 2008-07-30 12:00 AM

Not my typical routine. Ate half a bagel, and half a banana. Got the borrowed mountain bike out, found out I had a flat. (Rode this on Monday and Thursday, no problems) This bike was borrowed, and had no spare tube. It is 8:40, race starts at 10:00. Skip the pre-race meeting. Called the bike shop emergency #, left a message. Took the bike to one tire shop. He said the tube had 'pin holes' in it. I didn't want to risk flatting again, so went to the motorcycle shop to find a new tube. Not open yet. Stressed out, near crying. Take the bike to another tire store. They have no tubes. Finally it is 9:00 and the stores are opening. Run to one store, no tubes that size. Go to another store, empty bin where that size is supposed to go. Back to the motorcycle shop, finally open; no sales help. Find a tube, write a check and yell on my way out. Back to the tire shop to install the tube. 9:30. Park truck at the Y, ride bike to the pond, out to transition. Run back to the pond. 9:50. Call from sister, "Where are you, you were supposed to take my bike to transition?" Can't. She still had time left because she was on a team. Someone's writing on my arm, oh yeah, race number. Got into the pond, got wet, stood up, gun went off.
No need, had my heart rate up all morning!
