Swim
Comments: I know my form was less than perfect, but I was trying to swim my best race. i WAS focusing on pulling through the entire stroke and I think that went well. I went off to one side every now and again, but I was keeping an eye on the buoys. What would you do differently?: stay on course a little better, but really this was my best swim performance given that I went under 2:00/100m. Transition 1
Comments: After coming up out of the water, there was a run up the beach to the transition area. I started unzipping the suit as soon as I was able to stand up in the water. I ran to the bike, rolled my socks on, and got my bike shoes on, then sunglasses and helmet. I grabbed the bike and ran to mount line. I was a little worried when my sunglasses fogged. I thought they would clear. Not true. What would you do differently?: I could have run a little quicker out of the water, although the mud on the beach was a little slick. Bike
Comments: Despite the slow speed, I was really happy with the ride. I rode hard and kept moving. At two points the hills were so steep, I had to stand up in the saddle, but I didn't want to walk the hills. What would you do differently?: train more... the focus that I had done on hills was really helpful. I will definitely be working more on hills. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good coming in... I loosened the velcro on my shoes before I gor off my bike. Next time I won't get them so loose, since running with those shoes on was a little wobbly, but all in all, it went well. What would you do differently?: just move more quickly Run
Comments: I am thrilled with this run. My best 10k ever and coming after that bike, I am thrilled. I kept moving up that hill on the way out and all the way to the turnaround. I was a little disheartened when I got to the last uphill stretch... that was hard, but I still had my best run. What would you do differently?: keep on training... Post race
Warm down: drank and ate... stretched... talked with some other triathletes... aftera few minutes, I went over to my brother and he said, "Do you know you won your age group?" I was a little stunned, and then it sunk in... I was the ONLY person in my AG... ha! It doesn't matter though, I finished off my tri season with my best race, great effort and lots of improvement. The medal was just icing on a great cake... sweet, delicious icing... *drool* What limited your ability to perform faster: I am still getting my body adjusted to endurance sports... still building base in all three areas.. Event comments: A very small race, but worthwhile. A very enjoyable course, even if hilly. I think it would have been more enjoyable without the rain, but it was good. I will certainly consider doing it again. Last updated: 2008-07-31 12:00 AM

I woke up got dressed, and went downstairs to eat a bagel. I drank some gatorade, grabbed my stuff, and my brother and I drove out to the race. When we got there, I unloaded my stuff, set up transition and went potty. About 15 minutes before race start, I put on my wetsuit and ate a gel. I got in the water, took a few strokes and waited for the start.
Not much...
