Swim
  • 18m 40s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was passed 2 by people and passed 5 or 6. I was pleased.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

Fairly smooth
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 44m 1s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.08 mile/hr
Comments:

It was a smooth ride. The temp was quickly rising to the mid 80s with much humidity. I pushed, but not too hard. I kept a high cadence and lower gear to try to save my legs and lungs for the run.
What would you do differently?:

attack the corners.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
What would you do differently?:

My dismount needs major work.
Run
  • 27m 25s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I had side stitches and some cramping in the calves for the first mile. I was able to pick up the pace a little after this. It was very hot by now and I was gasping a little, but I still had legs under me on the final quarter to further accelerate to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

I would pick up the pace a little more at mile 2, and then accelerate again at mile 3. I had some fuel left and probably could have cut 30 + seconds off my run.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink multiple gatorades. Eat an apple and a banana. Gentle stretching of quads, ITB, calves and hamstrings.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor sleep the night prior due to drama in house with wife and teenage daughter.
Heat and humidity.
Genetics.

Event comments:

It was a nice, well run, local race with a lot of newbies. The bike and the run coarse were well maintained with pleasant scenery. Even though it did not affect my time or enjoyment, I do wish it the coarse was completely closed to traffic, though.
