Swim
Comments: River current requires twice as much sighting and lots of crashing into other people. Took first 200 yards on each loop to get breathing under control. Truely doubt it was actually a mile since I don't think I swam 1:45 / 100 pace with all my troubles. What would you do differently?: Overcompensate on swimming a wide course to stay away from the crowds. Transition 1
Comments: No real problems. Took a little more time to relax and lower heart rate from a crazy swim. Forgot to reset bike computer before race start. What would you do differently?: Reset bike computer before race start Bike
Comments: Took first 5.5 miles at a high cadence and a decent speed. Picked it up and stayed mostly in the big wheel from there on out. Stayed in the aerobars 95+% of the time. What would you do differently?: Drink a little more. Transition 2
Comments: Took a little bit of time getting my legs to work under me after pedaling hard. What would you do differently?: Needed to spin a little more and let my legs calm before getting off the bike. Run
Comments: Legs felt good. Focused on holding a pace just under 7:30 on the way out and running what was comfortable on the way back. Should have brought my fuel belt. Water stops along course completely inefficient and did not have Gatorade. Last 2 miles very hot and starting to get dehydrated. What would you do differently?: Bring Fuel belt. Post race
Warm down: Poured water over head. What limited your ability to perform faster: Panic and crowds in swim, heat in run. Event comments: Race started about 25 minutes late. Not enough water stops and lots of confusion due to the sprint race being run concurrently. Last updated: 2008-08-03 12:00 AM
