Run
Comments: Felt good throughout. Started out at 8:00 pace, mile six being the slowest then tried to pick it up a little each mile. The remaining miles were all sub 8:00 which was what I wanted to do, with the last mile being at about 7:00 pace. Had fun and enjoyed myself throughout. What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace a little. I stuck with the plan, maybe reexamine the plan for the next half marathon and be a little more aggressive. Post race
Warm down: Stretch a little, and have a beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: Following the plan and not pushing harder even though I was feeling good. Event comments: Very nice course, but it was the first year for this race, and it showed. I arrived at 6:15, 45 minutes before the scheduled start and waited in the line for packet pickup for more than an hour, then had to get in the line for timing chip pickup and waited a few minutes more. Race started late, and was very disorganized. There was only one tent for PP and were only four flustered volunteers that had clearly never done this before. Big improvements need to be made in terms of organization or I won't do this race again, despite it being a nice course. Also, there were not enough aid stations on the course, and this needs to be addressed as well. Last updated: 2008-08-03 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:15 ate a hammer bar and banana, and then drove to Oak Brook.
Walked back and forth a little to and from the car to drop stuff off. Stretched hamstrings a little. No time for a proper warm up due to long lines.
