Comments:

Interesting swim. Fog moved in as the race started obscurring one of the turn bouys. RD had a pontoon boat hold position near the buoy so we could sight. Also, goggle were fillingh with water badly. I'm not sure why. After a feww hundred meters, I had it fixed and on I went. Overall, the swim was OK. I didn' tire myself out. I really need to work on my swim.
Transition 1

Comments:

long transition. It seemed everyone had a long T1 time.
Bike

Comments:

Hilly course. It took a while for me to settle down. I held a good pace because I had legs for the run. For some reason, I was rather uncomfortable on the bike the whole ride. Also, there was a lot of traffic on the road. A car stopped suddenly and a guy who was flying past me almost rear ended the car.
Transition 2

thats more like it.

Comments:

I felt good coming off the bike. I was well hydrated and drank almost all of my perpetuem. My back was a little sore, but, overall, I felt great. The run course was very hilly. Once again I found myself running uphill after transition. After the first couple of miles, I was pretty beat. I walked through all the water stops and my heartrate was quite high. It was a tough run. I do not think I was prepared for the hills in the run section. I pushed on, passed a few club members that had pulled away on the swim and the bike. I was also trying to catch Bobby. I closed the gap to about 50-100 yards, but couldn't get any closer. I sprinted to the end and crossed the finish line out of breath. I was light headed for 10-15 afterwards and had to sit down. I think the heat may have got to me a bit.
I finished pretty high in my AG for the run (perhaps I'm not one of the triathletes that neglects the run).

Overall, this was a great experience! The course was challenging, the competition was tough, and I had a blast! This was supposed to be my last race of the season but I just registered for Ameliaman Oly! One is never enough. I love this distance!!!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Run more hilly routes.

Event comments:

The volunteers were very enthusiastic! It was a well done race. My only negative comment is that there was a lot of traffic on certain portions of the bike course.
