Pre-race routine:

Stayed an hour away. Got there with plenty of time. A 2 transition race, requires a lot of planning. Had a banana Powerbar in car about 2 hours out. Another piece about 30 min out.
Event warmup:

about a 6 -7 minute swim. Felt good.
Swim
  • 32m 28s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

No wetsuit, freshwater, hurt time. Went out well, felt navigation was pretty good. Thought I petered out the last 300 or so meters, the shore could not come fast enough!
What would you do differently?:

Try to draft better, maintain focus. Train more!
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Ran down the wrong side of rack, didn't lose that much there. Lost time putting on heart monitor and watch, then had trouble putting shirt on over wet body. Then didn't have velco on shoes open. Overall, not a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to transition with shoes on pedals. Get a one piece suit for non-wetsuit races.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 14s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.35 mile/hr
Comments:

Typical weak leg. Got blown away on the bike. Climbed a little better/smarter than in Stamford. Lots of work need to be done here.
What would you do differently?:

With current training, not much. Don't think I could have pushed too much more. Drink more water.
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Again, not great transition. First didn't have a sense of the course so I didn't know the bike leg was over until it was almost on it. Couldn't take my feet out of the pedals because of it. Also had a little issie with getting the shoes out of the pedals. Even though there were volunteers yelling which rack to go to, I passed mine and had to double back. Maybe lost 10 sec. Running shoes went on OK. Someone knocked my helmet and shades of the racked bike, had to retrieve it.
What would you do differently?:

Try to visualize the bike finish, so won't be surprised. Go a little slower and go to the right row the first time.
Run
  • 54m 23s
  • 6.84 miles
  • 07m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

Decent run. Passed a bunch of people. Might have lost a little towards the end. Thought I was pushing decently, monitored my HR. Got outsprinted by a similar AGer that I had passed miles earlier. Couldn't hold on.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe drink some more water. Stomach felt like ther might have been too much in there.
Post race
Warm down:

None. Was whipped. Sat in mini-pool to cool down. Then got mini-massage on right hammy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, probably. Need longer rides and probably longer swims.

Event comments:

I think it needed some more post-race refreshments. They had all the Gatorade one could want on the course, but none at the finish. Only fruit was bananas, most looked to green for my taste. Didn't see oranges. That would have been good.
We were allowed to shower at the Fitness Center, which was greatly appreciated.
Lots of volunteers, good transportation to the swim start. Reasonably priced race, enjoyable and challenging.
