Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:45, ate a big breakfest and got starbucks. Was about an hour drive so hit the road,
Event warmup:

Just ran for 20 min
Swim
  • 13m 58s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was quite nervous about this part. I didn't want to get hit or swam over so I started way off to the right (inside). I started breathing every other stroke but then switched to every third stroke.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on drafting off someone and be better at sighting, I felt like I swam all over the place instead of straight to the bouys.
Transition 1
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

I was surpised that my legs didnt want to run after I got out of the water (learning experience). really liked how the wetsuit came off super easily.
What would you do differently?:

Run out of the water quicker to the T1
Bike
  • 36m 51s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 20.35 mile/hr
Comments:

Started with my shoes on the bike, have been practicing this around my house, went well. Started off strong and realized my bike computer wasn't working. So I just put it in the highest gear and went for it. Was passed I think by 4 ppl, they all had quite nice tri bikes (one day :P )
What would you do differently?:

I think I would have stood up more and increased my cadence during the last part to get my legs going for the run. I read about it, and wanted to but forgot lol.
Transition 2
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

This was a new experience! I had a hard time getting my shoes on. Ran in from the bike dismount (got passed) raked bike and got helmet off and visor on. then tried to tie my shoes, this took alittle more effort then I was ready for :P
What would you do differently?:

prob would have ran faster to the transition area
Run
  • 25m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm normally a fairly solid runner, I felt really poor on this leg. I was wheezing coming out of T2 and just never stopped. I didnt catch my breath till after the race.
What would you do differently?:

I could have pushed at the end a little more, the whole run I was holding back trying to catch my breath, legs felt great, lungs a different story :P
I would run the last 1/4 mile of the race so I now where the finish line is.
Post race
Warm down:

walked about and looked for my wife and new born :P
then took pics of friends coming in

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lungs during run

Event comments:

Again this was my 1st Triathlon so I'm going to use this as a marker, but prob do a few things a little different next time.
