Swim
Comments: a lot of people complained about the hot water but it didn't bother me. My spotting has improved but i still drift a lot. I don't mind getting banged around by other swimmers but my ankles were grabbed 3 different times! what's up with that? this is my 2nd Tri and i recovered so much better if i got choked because i expected it and decided to breath on each right stroke instead of holding my breath longer. i felt more confident having a "store" What would you do differently?: i darted away any time i felt contact which i should quit doing. practice spotting. should probably break down and have a coaching session to check my form. i like swimming and would have thought my time would be better. I stopped and looked around a lot and got disoriented a lot (less than last time though). i think the only way around that is more OW practice. Transition 1
Comments: i think it was fine...i was messy with my Gu and got it on my handlebars What would you do differently?: throw on my skirt with number on back Bike
Comments: gears messing up so i was afraid to shift - stsyed in the middle What would you do differently?: practice and make sure my bike gets checked out before an event. i should really try to hammer it but with the heat and no drinking, i felt like it was smarter this time to save a little. I'm going to get a computer on my bike right after this and practice my pace. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: put on sox at t1 and leave them on. practice riding with feet on top of shoes. but first i have to get over my fear of reaching down. Run
Comments: heart racing like crazy to begin so i walked/jogged/walked/jogged till i got it back down. drank at every drink station and slowed down at every mister. i was a little afraid of heat exhaustion. A spectator at the end yelled out to me DON'T LET THE GUY IN THE AFRO BEAT YOU!!! (a guy in a hilarious fro wig) so i ran as fast as i could and was actually feeling strong till i hit the sand and it was like taffy!! my forced finish line smile turned into a grim death mask, i'm sure What would you do differently?: wish i could have run faster but i'm satisfied. i had so much fun! Post race
Warm down: walking around, paddled in the lake a little. ate a banana & drank water What limited your ability to perform faster: I was afraid of heat exhaustion since i've been there. Also, the two weeks before the event i got very little sleep and probably overtrained till the end. i think the sleep thing really hurt me. Event comments: I hear they always run out of beer and they sure did at this one. Oh well, the idea of Cold Beer looming ahead of me was very motivating! I loved the ice cold towels. who cares if they reused them? I LOVED the volunteer with the pickup and the music. Last updated: 2008-08-05 12:00 AM

woke up 4:30 & drank 2 c black coffee with one aspirin. around 5:30 had an orange and started slowly munching on the goodies from the swag bag...soy joy & cliff bar. comfortably chugging water. A little fullish when my wave time came up but didn't hurt me.
streches, pacing, a very short swim. seemed like plenty of time to set up, socialize.
