Swim
Comments: Good swim. I seeded the swim at 4:50. Add a few seconds to run to the mat & I was close. No one passed me & I passed one person. What sticks out in my mind is the fact that I wasn't even breathing hard when I got out of the pool. I drafted about 2 laps, then passed on the last lap. It seemed really easy. Transition 1
Comments: I just need to speed it up. I shouldn't need to take as long as I do. Bike
Comments: Felt really great on the bike. Not winded at all from the swim & that helped me get up to speed fast. Better split than last year. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Was afraid my feet would be cold from the bike, they weren't. Started off with another runner that I thought was in my age group. I couldn't shake him. 1st mile about 6:30 pace, mile 2 about 6:20. Then I realized his bib number was 45! Age 24, I let him go, but I needed the push & he appreciated the pacing. What would you do differently?: Tried to increase the tempo the last mile. My pace dropped off & it could have cost me an AG place. 3rd place was only 7 seconds behind me!! Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Changed into dry clothes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Saturday before the race: In Austin tailgaiting before UT football game. Drinking Beers & eating BBQ! Event comments: This is a fun race to end the season. Great Volunteers. Cheap AG metals for 2nd & 3rd place. For as much $$ as they take in, how about something nicer. Usual breakfast. Had 2 cups of joe since it was a sprint. Double checked the car for everything, then headed to Keller, 20 minute drive.
Wanted to ride a bit but the line to Transition/body marking looked long, so I just got in line. Ran about 6 minutes. Swam 50 meters. Felt really good in the pool.
