Swim
Comments: Glad I wore the wetsuit since there were alot of waves and chop. Couldn't really tell there were waves until you were out there. Got nailed in the face by someone who crossed over at about halfway down the backside. Knocked my goggles a bit loose, swam, trying to decide if enough water was coming in to make my contacts float right out of my eyes! (didnt happen, whew!) So many people walking the swim, I mean come on, its not a duathlon, its a triathlon!!! What would you do differently?: Bring a range finder to verify distance so I don't go around all day thinking I suck more at the swim than previously thought! Transition 1
Comments: pretty happy with T1, wet suit did not slow me too much. Well worth wearing it, even for a sprint. What would you do differently?: no socks? baby steps on changing routines! See below! Loved that my bike rack was FULL when I came in! Bike
Comments: Almost got hit by a car 2.5 miles in. A cop directing each direction, so far so good. But, cop A, to the right, stops traffic. again, so far so good. cop B (for bad cop) either sends someone through or she just decided to be stupid and go. I looked over, and she was about 15 feet at the most from me. I screamed, doing 21 mph, and thankfully she stopped. I was shaking so bad, in tears etc, and almost lost my will to race. Once I gained my composure, I hammered. Got passed by two guys in aero helmets, otherwise, spent the whole race passing! Cool! What would you do differently?: Not fight with cars for the right to race. Transition 2
Comments: First step off of bike triggered horrible hip pain, limped and tried to run bike back to rack. Luckily, rack was far from bike in. LOVE my YANKZ!! I had not been ablt to try them out after "installing" them, do to no runs other than races. They are adjust perfect!! Alot of pain running, hobbling, out of T2. What would you do differently?: No socks? Again, baby steps! I FINALLY have and am using YANKZ. No socks would probably knock about 15 or so sec off of T1. Not be in pain! Run
Comments: Nice course, strange that second water stop, just had cups of ice! Wish I had known that ahead, wouldn't have stopped, asking for water! Cool enough not to need much to drink, but had sticky mouth from my gel that I took running out of T2. First 3/4 mile or so really hurt, then pain decreased some. (good old endorphins!) Definite negative splits! What would you do differently?: run faster! Post race
Warm down: wandering, looking for ice for hip. Medical tent pretty much a joke. (little first aid kit and one person!) He gave me a sandwich baggy, and said maybe the food area would have ice! (they did!) Iced hip for about 15 minutes, then got camera, and started to look for my Olympic Donkey buddies! Hung with Tbunny? (darn, can't remember his name!) Got a couple pics of Clint, then battery promptly died! (sorry Dave, Nicole, Deanna, Jim, triplet mom...hope I didn't forget anyone) Met BBmoozer after race. What limited your ability to perform faster: PAIN!! Event comments: 1/34 age; 6/290 females; 75/740 OA Last updated: 2008-08-07 12:00 AM

Up early (duh...)Considered going back to bed! Toaster Strudel and Diet Pepsi x2. Long drive up north, pretty tired, did not sleep well at all.
Walk around a bit. Shivered, shivered some more. Decided to wear my wetsuit just to stay warm until the start!
