Bike
Comments: I did LOTS of loping and walking. There were 3 women. T. is my competition, and she broke her chain about 5 minutes into the race. She was upset because she thought she was out of the race. I suggested she just coast back down to the start area and replace or fix her chain. She took my advice, and did finish the race. We are evenly matched. I finished 15 mintues ahead of her, but she thinks it took more than 15 minutes to get down, fix the chain, and get back to where she was. The other woman was way in over her head. I lapped her and she dropped out in tears after the first lap. I felt really bad for her, and both T. and I talked with her afterwards to encourage her to try another (easier) race. I think the race organizers don't do the sport any favors when they have a novice class compete on what I would call "Double Black Diamond" trails. What would you do differently?: Ugh. Post race

We camped in our pop-up camper in Pemaquid, and we got a bit of a late start in the morning. We got there, registered, helped the kids with their race, and then started our race. No time for warm-ups.
