Get up 4:30am. Coffee, banana, Clif bar. 2 Glasses of water. 1 hr drive to event. Pick up pack. Setup transition. get rid of some liquids. Drink 8 ounces of Gatorade & gel pack. Talk with other people I know and walk to swim start.

Garmin would not find satalites. Had to start it and hope it was ready when I got to T1.

Event warmup:

Jog about 50 yards to swim start to get heart pumping. Get legs wet & stretch.
Swim
  • 11m 10s
  • 600 meters
  • 01m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

First time to see how new technique work would pan out. Was please with results. Did not think it was having an effect almost abandoned technique. Last third of race was great!

New PR for me as far as pace.

What would you do differently?:

Get into rythem faster. Trust in what you trained for. Stay in form.
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Fast run to bike. Left shoes on bike. Put on glasses and helmet and ran out of T1 to start line. No socks. Jumped on bike and got up to 15mph before loading shoes.

Great T1 for me. Shaved a whole minute.
What would you do differently?:

Have Garmin set for bike mode. See above.
Bike
  • 30m 16s
  • 11 miles
  • 21.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt real strong on bike. Averaged 21.8 mph. Max was 26mph. Drank 16 ounce of gatorade. Kept cadence and HR where I wanted it. New PR for me as far as pace. High spin going into T2.
What would you do differently?:

Was screwing around with watch while running out of transition.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Hopped off bike with shoes out in plenty of time. Had socks rold this time and got them on quickly. Still sat down to put on shoes. Probably a good rest though. Still had real good T2 shaved 26 seconds. Ran with race belt.
What would you do differently?:

Look at quick tie option for shoes. Put shoes on standing up.
Run
  • 30m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt real good coming out of T2. Not as tight as usual. Did a 9:41 and 9:36 for first two miles. Last mile was 10:02 (ouch). Did not want to push it. Finished the race felt real strong. Probably could have pushed the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself the last mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around drank water and Powerade. Cheered on other participants and Kingdombuilder team.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stick with program. Don't worry about what other people are doing...even if they are 20 years older than you :).

Event comments:

This was the first year anniversary of multisport for me. I think I have come along way from this time last year. I think I will always keep this race on my list since it was my first.
