Pre-race routine:

Swim
  • 30m 45s
  • 2078 yards
  • 01m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

great swim. Sighting bouys were difficult to see after rounding the turn into the dock. Hopefully they will place more bouys next year.
Transition 1
  • 11m 5s
Comments:

300 yard run to T1 from the dock. Became light headed in T1 so wrapped in towel and sat on ground putting on equipment. Took my time to make sure no issues going to bike. Felt great going out of T1. Ran in shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Wish I could have been faster through T1, but goal for the day was to have a solid race and not blow up. Feel I made the right decisions even though it cost me a lot of time.
Bike
  • 2h 46m 57s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Solid bike performance for me. Only issue was sig. saddle soreness from constantly being in the arrow position. All my taining in the mountains and not use to the constant cadence pedaling with no position changes.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

Foot got hung in rear water bottle rack when trying to dismount. Volunteers were taking all bikes and helmets and racking them for us. One of the volunteers caught me and kept me from hitting the pavement. Very thankful. The voluteers at this race were beyond awesome.
What would you do differently?:

The obvious
Run
  • 2h 07m 34s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Did well with the run until mile 11. I was doing well with keeping nutrition (Heed) and water in me. Walked aid stations every mile. Forgot to take in elctrolytes and so started cramping after mile 11. Was only able to walk/run during last mile. Able to run across finish line before collapsing. Did not have to go to medical tent, but required a lot of recoverite and had nurse puring a lot of water all over me. Big time learning leason. Always take in your electrolytes on the run not just the bike.
What would you do differently?:

The obvious.
