Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30. Got ready, ate Crispix and bananna. Went to race. Got marked and set up area. Had to be there at 5:30am but my heat didn't start until 8:05. Walked around, met family. Ate Cliff bar prior to race by about 30 minutes.

Not one. Bathroom lines too long.

What would you do differently?:

Bring some water to rinse sand off of feet.

I was able to pass some people this time and actually had gears up to 3,8 quite a bit. Still got passed easily by some who were very aerodynamic.

Train for the bike more. Increase strength in legs.

Bike rack was at exit of bike race. It was nice to rack bike so quickly. Had a long run to get out of transition area though. It wasn't too bad.

Legs felt a little heavy today. Probably partially from lack of sleep in the previous week.
What would you do differently?:

Run was nice. Should have pushed myself more at the beginning of run and throughout. First mile was only 7:14. Second mile was 7:00.

Warm down:

Walked with family. Stretched. Drank and ate fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably taking a week off of training the first week in August didn't help. Also didn't get much sleep during the week.

Event comments:

I liked the course. I'm glad this was my second triathlon and not my first. I felt some of the information about the race wasn't emphasized enough to my satisfaction. With it being my second race, it was easier to go with the flow.
