Swim
Comments: Started outside and in back, lots of people had the same idea. Couldnt get into rhythm and found myself heading towards the buoy line. Got tired and stopped a couple of times, used backstroke for a majority of race as the freestyle wasnt working. What would you do differently?: More swimming, More swimming, More swimming...open water practice as well. Transition 1
Comments: Ran from swim blind (didnt put my glasses on until I got to transition area) Washed feet, put on socks and cycling shoes, ate a Gu gel and off I went. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Got on the book and really started to hit it hard. Passed quite a few people on the bike, hit the hill and that was a bit tough but most of the way back was downhill, got some rest and hydration. Chain came off the front ring with about 1/4 mile to go, quick 30 second fix What would you do differently?: More biking. I put just 40 miles on this bike before race. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went extremely well. Grabbed another Gu gel and a bottle of water and headed out for the run. What would you do differently?: Want to try the quick type laces Run
Comments: Run went pretty well. I noticed they were almost out of water at the aid station when I passed and there were still about 50 people behind me...not a good thing. That is why I carry my own water. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Packed up and headed home, stopped for a donut and cofee. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swimming was a struggle. More time on the bike would be beneficial. Event comments: They did not plan for 214 people to show and were short on volunteers and water. Last updated: 2008-08-13 12:00 AM
