woke up at 5:45, and got my stuff together - drank some orange juice and ate a cliff bar. drove down to the race site, parked a ways away, and went to grab packets. went back to car and dropped off extra packet material and then parked my car in other parking. the jogged back to the start.
Event warmup:

jogged about 1/4-1/2 mile before start and stretched my shin/hamstrings.

Comments:

The run was interesting. miles 1-4 were just a matter of getting warmed up and getting in the grove of running. this was the longest run i have ever done, and i hadn't done a long run (11 miles) since almost 2 weeks ago. the turn around was mile 6.65'ish, and they handed out an accel-gel. i pocketed the gel and ate a GU at the turn around (i brought it with me). my time at the turn around was just after 46 mins. about mile 9, i hit a wall. i was getting a side ache and i had to slow my pace down to recover. i just felt like i had no energy, and although my legs felt ok, the rest of my body was pretty fatigued. i hung on till about mile 10.5 where i started to feel better again. then around mile 11 i got stung by a bee on the lip!!! that was interesting. i kept on going, through where the parade would come through later. saw a couple people i know, and then my knee started hurting decently with about 1/2 mile to go. i kinda limp/ran the last 1/2 and was still able to kick for the finish!
What would you do differently?:

be in better shape -- i have only been able to run 2-3 times per week due to muscle soreness/not wanting to get injured, so i think that put a damper on my race. i didn't feel like i am in as good of shape as i would have liked and the race was really really brutal. i think it was tougher for me then the tri's i have done thus far. so: what would i do different -- train more!!
Post race
Warm down:

after crossing the finish line, walked around for a few mins, found the water table and pounded a few cups of water. . then walked some more, found george (roomate who did 5 mile race) and went and stretched and ate bagel and cookies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough training -- i wanted to get a little closer to 7 min/mile, but i am pretty happy with how i did! my legs are incredibly sore today (day after), with the most pain being in my hips, and in a muscle that runs on the side of my calf to my ankle bone.

Event comments:

could have used more water stops i think -- i think there was like 3 or 4 on the way out (thus 6-8 total). . i could have used water every 1-1.5 miles!
