Total Time = 2h 50m 35s
Overall Rank = 100/237
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 34/59
Pre-race routine:

Small bowl of shreddies 2.5 hrs before start. Was planning on having a clif but had no interest so didn't. Bag of sharkies 15 mins before start.

Wore my GPS for the whole event this time. Also wore my shirt under the wetsuit, this really prevented the chaff burn I got last time on the neck.

Swim
  • 32m 7s
  • 1680 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

I think this was a really good swim. I didn't veer around as much with not a whole lot of sighting. Drafting was much better as this race had more guys my speed.
What would you do differently?:

Put in a touch more effort. Not counting the first bit while my HR got up, I was about 122-129 and it's as flat as a board.

Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

Took a bit more time to dry off and spray the sunblock on. 10-20 seconds doesn't matter to me yet.

What would you do differently?:

Pedal harder with the feet on top before putting them in shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 44s
  • 38.84 kms
  • 30.37 km/hr
Comments:

I still don't know if I'm pushing hard enough. I felt I could have done more laps which I guess means I was ok, but I still sucked hard at the run compared to my 10k only races which means I obviously was drained at least somewhat.

Refilled my aerodrink right at the midway point, and took a gel shortly after.

What would you do differently?:

Not much. Maybe pull back a touch for more juice on the run?

Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Took a few extra seconds to have some more water, breathe a bit before bolting off.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 57m
  • 10.47 kms
  • 05m 26s  min/km
Comments:

HR wouldn't stay down, just lack of mileage obviously. I will have to focus on running over the winter. I suspect all the climbing in the bike took it's toll on the run energy left as opposed to my last race which was pretty much flat.

What would you do differently?:

Work on the running mileage. Also will try some 3-1 water/gatorade mix for the next few runs and see how that goes.

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Event comments:

It just takes so long to get to the food/awards due to start times and straggler participants. I don't want to leave early but pushing into 3-4 o'clock from getting up at 6 is a bit of a stretch.

Race definately has more hardcores than the Coral Springs. I believe this is a qualifying race for worlds or something.
