Swim
Comments: Didn't warm up at all-had to take daughter to LONG bathroom line. Was 'hurried' getting into water just before start. Immediately went in to O2 debt. Spent the next 1400 yrds trying to survive; backstroke, sidestroke, float, flounder anything. FINALLY got feeling better about 200 yrds from finsih. HORRIBLE! What would you do differently?: Arrive earlier, leave kids at home (kidding), get into water and do some swimming. Transition 1
Comments: Just wanted to be smooth and not forget anything. Hammer Gel before i left. Got feet wet before putting shoes on. I felt pretty good about T1. What would you do differently?: Love to try having my shoes already on the bike, but maybe that will happen next year Bike
Comments: Bike went OK. Really just wanted to save myself. I left a little bit on the course, not much, but i could do a wee bit better. What would you do differently?: Aero bars are close, but not quite perfect. Extend bars out and put a 5mm spacer in to raise them up. Transition 2
Comments: Spun a really fast cadence before T2-I really think that helped. Put socks on-that took a bit of time. Again, just wanted to be smooth and not forget anything. Hammer Gel before i left What would you do differently?: Forgot to stretch out my legs before I left. Run
Comments: Didn't stretch in T2 so i was a bit tight. I felt pretty good, mentally, at this point so I was sorta coasting. Really started to feel the heat about now. Hammer gel in T2 kinda upset my gut a bit. I don't know If i would change eating it, but it did trouble me a tiny bit. Good aid stations with lots of misting/spraying. However, they did run out of water at one station and I needed it-so i picked up a half-drank bottle I found along the road and poured it into my mouth (didn't touch the bottle-gross, but effective) What would you do differently?: Stretch a bit in T2 and run a bit harder. i was pretty fresh at the finish. Post race
Warm down: Looking for Betsy and Emmy. Ate a slice of pizza and a burrito. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim was just horrible, lack of specific training i.e. more speedwork. Event comments: I finished. I got a hugh bit of satisfaction knowing I finished a triathlon. Last updated: 2008-08-18 12:00 AM

Wake up 6 yr old daughter, car loaded up nite before. Coffee and powerbar. Pick up Betsy, drive 35 miles to Emmett. Sucking on mixture of Hammer perp and Heed on the way.
Barely-big problem
