Swim
Comments: I felt pretty good about the swim. I started swimming and did not let anyone bother me. I just kept going as people ran into me or grabbed me. If I ran into someone, I kept going. My sighting was good and rounded the bouys well. I have not been swimming consistently lately, so I am pleased What would you do differently?: Here is something to note. Last year's race was my first OWS. I remember stopping twice to rest at Kayaks and was on fumes when I finished. I'm not sure how I ranked in my wave but I saw plenty of people resting along the way. I also saw every stroke imaginable including one guy who was doing a breast/frog stroke on the backstretch. Transition 1
Comments: I am happy about this time. I had no wetsuit to slow me down, so I made the 100 yard run and put on my helmet, glasses, shoes and was gone. I ran to the dismount and made a flying leap onto the bike. I did have a little trouble getting clicked but not bad. Bike
Comments: Ok, I stink at the bike. One of these days, I'll improve. I have not trained on the bike in at least a month. So, it's all good. I would like to get more consistent with my cadence. There were areas where I coasted and others where I pushed it. What would you do differently?: Train Transition 2
Comments: I am also pleased with this time. I decided to try to take my feet out of my shoes early to assist with this time. It worked perfectly. I flew off the bike and was on the move. Usually, I'm busy unclicking my shoes. Run
Comments: This was about right. I ran some and walked some. It was about 95 degrees out there. I have run this course so many times that I could do it with my eyes closed. I walked with Ox for a bit to check in on him and with Brian across the Mill Ave bridge until the finish. I had some kick left and sprinted the last 50 yards or so. Post race
Warm down: Find Shade What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm old and slow...Um, really, I am just too busy with other areas in my life to train consistently right now which is needed to get faster. Event comments: I really try to have fun with races and not worry too much about things out of my control. The bike course was tight with narrow lanes, several turns and 1200 people on it. The food simply did not compare to the Monti's catering of last year. Not even close. It is always fun to hang out with my friends and meet new people. It just makes racing much more enjoyable. Woke up at 0330. Took a shower, ate some oatmeal and drank a cup of coffee. Drove over to Ken's house to pick him up.
Quickly set up transition and chilled. For once, I was not in a hurry.
None. Just chatted with Tanya, PJ, Jen and Ken.
