Swim
Comments: I was surprised at how many people can't swim a straight line. I must have had the same person cross diagonally in front of me about 10 times. What would you do differently?: Not get into a race at the start and just set my pace and go. Transition 1
Comments: No idea about my transition time What would you do differently?: This felt really good - I practiced this quite a few times so I wouldn't get overwhelmed. I didn't have a suit to worry about either which was probably good. Bike
Comments: Had trained some hills but wasn't quite prepared for these hills. Although they weren't terrible. My time was around 43 minutes according to my bike computer. Which was a bit slower than I had hoped but I felt it was good. What would you do differently?: Eaten something like a gel or had more energy drink. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Again, I felt pretty good about this. Had practiced a bunch. Run
Comments: The run was definitely the hardest part for me - I was pretty tired at the start but settled in to a comfortable pace, held it, and finished at right about the overall time I thought I would probably put up. What would you do differently?: Train more bricks, and run more and longer. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank water, ate a banana. Walked stuff back to vehicle. What limited your ability to perform faster: limited training. I think if I had been training longer than 9.5 weeks I could have done a bit better. Event comments: This was a really good first race. Great group of people, good activities afterward, and a really friendly crowd. Plus, Whitefish Lake is just an awesome place and I couldn't imagine a more scenic place to hold a tri. This was my first ever Tri. So I can't exactly call it a routine. Got up, ate some breakfast, double checked my bag to make sure I had everything, loaded up my vehicle and got over to the race.
