Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:30. Had and english muffin w cream cheese and some water. Drove to the start. It was a beautiful sunrise sky!
Event warmup:

None, didn't even go into the water to swim ~50 yards like I usually do.
Swim
  • 05m 59s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I have a feeling this was even shorter than the advertised 400 meters.. The time includes a short run to transition as well. Hesitated whether to wear a wet suit or not for such a short swim, but it was chilly this morning, so I decided to use it. Started in the second to last wave, which means lots of targets to chase! :) Started in front and went really hard the whole way.
Transition 1
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

Very efficient
Bike
  • 41m 18s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 21.07 mile/hr
Comments:

Powered it pretty hard the whole time. Passed 2 girls in my AG in the first 2 miles, then didn't see anyone else until mile 13 when I passed another girl in my AG.
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

There were no bikes on my bike rack when I got there! That's never happenned before! Quick transition. No socks in my racers.
Run
  • 21m 12s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 06m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt fresh. So I just ran hard! This might be better than any of the 5Ks I've done. No one in my AG. I started hoping maybe I won my AG.. unless of course someone was ahead of me the whole time.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and ate some fruit. Hung out at the awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

Turned out there were 2 speedy girls in my AG ahead of me! I don't know what's up with my AG in this city. I swear all the local races I've been to, my AG has just been so hard! 1st girl came in 2nd overall in the race! If I was a guy I would have won 25-29 AG today... Oh well! At least I got 3rd - this is the first time I podiumed in a triathlon.

8/26 Update: After looking at official results, turns out I was 1st in AG afterall! They must have messed something up in the preliminary results :)

Great local race! Very family friendly. They had a kids triathlon after the sprint was over too.
