Swim
Comments: Felt like a really good swim - I never felt like I was overdoing it or struggling. I did my best job ever of sighting and drafting - I drafted most of the race behind a woman who seemed to be kicking furiously. I was pleased with the results, especially since I haven't been swimming much due to surgery and then the tropical storm. What would you do differently?: Nothing - I was pleased with this swim. Transition 1
Comments: Better transition than in past - got clipped in faster than last week What would you do differently?: Move faster from swim to transition area - I pretty much just did a fast walk Bike
Comments: Ugh. Same old story. I thought I was doing really well in the first part of the first loop, but apparently I was going out too hard. Wind seemed to be coming from all directions, but not enough to make that much of a difference. I think it's just me. What would you do differently?: Ride more. I might redo my aerobars to the way they were before - wider. Transition 2
Comments: Yay for Yanks laces! What would you do differently?: Hit lap button and mode on Garmin sooner Run
Comments: Okay, but I was hoping to do better. I must have used it all on the bike. More walking up hills than I wanted to do. Finished strong thanks to a friend who was motivating me (and vice versa). Hot and sunny, as usual. What would you do differently?: Not take walk breaks on the hills Post race
Warm down: Stretch, water, two things of vanilla milk. What limited your ability to perform faster: The @#$% bike. Event comments: Year in and year out, this is a wonderful race. They did an especially good job this year with the tropical storm - the bike course was clean. It's a fun race and I hope to get better at it so I'll enjoy it even more! Wake up at 4:00 am due to security system glitch caused by power outage (I had intended to sleep until 4:45). Ate yogurt with Hammer Gel, then drove to Camp Blanding to pick up packet (about one hour).
Jogged for about 10 minutes, then did a brief swim just before the national anthem. I don't typically warm up, but I think it was good if for no other reason than to shake off the cobwebs.
