Run
Comments: I really enjoyed this course. I brought my own Gu because I hadn't trained with Clifshots, and I'm glad I did because I enjoyed being able to take them when I wanted. I'd only run 9 miles in training, so around mile 11 I could feel my knees and ankles protesting. But the wonderful spectators were cheering throughout the whole course, and it made it easy to get lost in the excitement of the moment and ignore my legs. Of course, the moment I crossed the finish line and started walking I could feel all my muscles seize up in retaliation. But that didn't matter because I was super excited that I finished the half in time to see the first female marathon finisher cross. What would you do differently?: Probably train more. I really only started training for this after finishing my triathlon, which wasn't enough time to work up to 13 miles safely. Post race
Warm down: I stretched a lot while waiting for my friend, then went to the beer garden! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training. Event comments: I really enjoyed this. I probably won't do it again because today I feel like I was beaten with a crowbar, but I'm glad I did it at least once. Last updated: 2008-08-25 12:00 AM

I crawled out of bed, ate a banana and a clif bar, and hopped on the light rail to get there.
Oh yeah, I also dosed myself with anti-diarrheal medicine because since hearing about runner's trots, I'm terrified it's going to happen to me!
Stretched a little, then waited forever for a porta-potty with no toilet paper. Because like I said, I'm paranoid that it will happen to me!
