Swim
Comments: MUCH better than last year. It felt easier because of my workouts during the summer and I didn't have nearly as many problems with fighting/navigating as I did before. Got slugged a few times trying to get to the front, but returned the favor (not on purpose!) as I passed others. Took a nice kick square in the nose from some guy who suddenly decided to take a rest in the middle of his swim, then start up again right in front of me. geez! Water temps felt great. What would you do differently?: My goggles fogged up a bit before. Next time I'll just buy a pair of new ones and I shouldn't have a problem. Transition 1
Comments: Getting out of the water they had a set of wooden stairs with some volunteers standing there helping you get out of the water. Somehow my hand found a nice nail sticking up through one of the boards. It started bleeding immediately, but must have stopped on the bike. Let's just hope that Town Lake + rusty nail doesn't turn into anything bad. :( Nothing special, just muddy. Long runs both in and out of transition. Slower people are hard to navigate around when running with your bike and they're asking questions about where to go! What would you do differently?: Probably wouldn't change much, except avoiding all rusty nails! Bike
Comments: For some reason the computer didn't register my bike or transition time, so I'm just guessing based on others results/times. Kind of frustrating! The bike was fun. Seems like every loop provided more and more fun. The last loop was like NASCAR racing on bikes as I was passing on the left and right and flying up the little hill. I know it's not good to pass on the right, but geez people, when you're going slow, MOVE over! What would you do differently?: I need to find a way to speed things up. I'm not getting enough mphs in my rides. I'm not sure if it's my effort or just my bike is a $1200 bike...I hear you can buy speed. ;-) Transition 2
Comments: Still need to find a way to get the socks and shoes on quicker. Much better than last race, however. Run
Comments: I thought I went out and kept a pretty good pace for me. In fact, it was the exact same pace as last year. My time was exactly the same. So I've not gotten worse, but I also haven't gotten any better. :( I had enough kick at the end to push ahead of some my age groupers. For the first time in a race, I tried taking gulps of water on the course. Not sure how much I actually took in. Might be some kind of practicing thing I need to do. Running and drinking isn't something I normally do. What would you do differently?: Prepare for a faster run...I just need to get faster! Call me a slow-poke, I guess. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around the course and cheered on friends What limited your ability to perform faster: It's always hard to tell how much gas I have left in the tank. When I crossed the finish line, I felt close to giving back my fluids, but that quickly went away and within 10 minutes I felt rested. Well, not rested, but not overexerted either. Event comments: Very enjoyable race day. Lots of fun stuff to do, but I just didn't want to wait in the lines. I hate lines. Even for portapotties! Last updated: 2008-08-25 12:00 AM

Nothing special. Just got up, showered, headed to the race, put my stuff together and waited. Had a little water beforehand. I'm not a big eater mainly because I train in the mornings and don't usually eat before training, so nothing new on race day, right?
Does a walk to the portapotty count?
