Pre-race routine:

Up early/shower to wake up. Ate a bowl of oatmeal and a banana. Got there early and relaxed. Checked in with the 3 clients I had in the race then hung out talking to other racers.
Set up transition, warmed myself in the car then 20 minutes on the trainer to loosen the legs.
Event warmup:

As above, 20 minutes on the trainer...
Run
  • 23m 35s
  • 2.9 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Still under par from work and the injuries. I still did okay on the first run and felt all right but had a tough time in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Skipped the race!
Transition 1
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

Just out of sorts in Transition. Unable to train up properly for the month and a half prior kept me from any bricks so I was cold in Transition.
What would you do differently?:

See above!
Bike
  • 46m 11s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 20.18 mile/hr
Comments:

As above, I just knew I was not prepared for this race and I felt it. I knew I was taking a toll on my very limited resources but had no choice as I knew run 2 was gonna hurt.
What would you do differently?:

Skip the race...
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Just ragged... Absolutely ragged. Could not get into the groove...
Run
  • 27m 8s
  • 2.9 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

There was literally nothing left of me. 2 guys I blitzed by on the bike past me way too easily on the run. I was hurtin' and whipped but its a race so I gave it what I had. There were three guys a few yards ahead of me nearing the chute but I was done. Until my buddy Sheryl ran out to me, as I always do for her and screamed at me to sprint it in. I gave what little I had left and outpaced two of them and duked it out with the third who just clipped me coming in...
Post race
Warm down:

BATHROOM! Man did I have to pee! Threw on clothes and dried off then got to the line to cheer on the rest of the finishers including 2 of my clients in their first event while alongside me a third client who finished before me cheered as well.
That was for sure the best part of the race....

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury and fatigue from a long season of racing and injury.

Event comments:

Great day despite my dismal outlook on MY efforts. Great crowd, great people and fun atmosphere. Better be, it's my club's race!

Course: Rock Lake outer road. Wind tunnel on South side running North. Had some trouble on the hill but got up to speed okay after. That hill 4 times is annoying. Wind on the downhill kept me from getting to topspeed. Felt I coasted too much, again lack of training for this event showed.
