Swim
Comments: Pretty Uneventful. Just tried to keep myself slow and steady. It worked. Could have been faster if I wasn't behind all the people walking the first few hundred meters... What would you do differently?: Swim harder. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty slow Transition. Got my Bag handed to me by the DOC...That deserved a great big wet full body hug! HA...it was great to see her! What would you do differently?: Ummm...not come in with 500 other people at the same time. Bike
Comments: The bike was good right up until Osoyoos. Then Ricter pass came along and put my 30k avg to shame. I did wear my HR monitor to keep my heart in check and I do believe that I climbed well. It was better than the last time I went up there. Uneventful until around 110 when I bailed at a port o potie..nothing hurt but my pride. Although after getting back on the bike i realized my toes were very sore. Must have hit harder than I realized. The out and back was hard. It was windy and hot. The heat was starting to take its toll on me as my stomach started turning around the bottom of Yellow lake. But, I just kept pushing through. The climb was great. There was a few slow sections but overall pretty good. I think going up there was very good due to the spectators and guys yelling out your name and cheering you on. The down hill was fun and the way back to Penticton was windy. I had to push to get 24k some times. Finished under 7 but my goal was 645. Still good for me. What would you do differently?: Ride faster. Have an aero bike. Transition 2
Comments: Seen The Doc after the ride. I was kind of cooked. Then changed and headed back out. Got my picture taken. I was feeling pretty good but my toe was throbbing by this point. What would you do differently?: Have slip on shoes. Run
Comments: Pretty good start. I was running but my stomach said no. Then around 2 miles I realized that I was overheated and began to ice myself. I walked for the most of the first half of the run. Started running around mile 11 after seeing Bruce and Ronin. Ran a negative split by 15 mins so not bad. I walked a few mile just to get my stomach settled. Around 5 Miles left I realized that if I picked it up I might get a pb. So I just tried to run as much as possible. I did that the most of the way back. Seen a lot of deer and the smoke was interesting. Post race
Warm down: Tried to stay standing What limited your ability to perform faster: Hmmm......see the Haz report. Event comments: Great course. This was the hardest thing I have everdone. I was quitting Ironman totally when I was biking. On the run, I was just starting to train harder. Not sure I would do another IM if I did not sign up for CDA this year. Woke up, had some vector. Drove to the course.
Went around and swam in the water and then splashed Ronin and Bruce with a dolpin dive...well The Starter gun goes for the Pro's...Bruce says. Hey weres your goggles...oh oh...yep fell off on the dolphin dive. So then I was about to go get Bruce's spares when a lady hands me my goggles...yep. I am an idiot.
