Swim
Comments: The swim started Ok - then I was kicked in the face about 1:00 in and caught some water and had to adjust my goggles. Since this was my first tri ever it was initiation by fire! After that I got into a rythm - the hardest thing was trying to stay away from swimmers who were all over the place. What would you do differently?: Try and get a front line position - I started in the middle of the group and it was a lot of work to get out of. I also went back and reviewed my training logs and I should have gotten my training in for the swim. Also - I only swam once in my wetsuit - I should have gotten out much more. Transition 1
Comments: Things were going well - however my foot got stuck in the wetsuit and I had some trouble with it. What would you do differently?: Many people lined up their flip flops for the long run out of transition - I wish I did the same. Bike
Comments: I was riding a Mountain Bike so my bike time wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. What would you do differently?: I am getting a Triathlon Bike for next season. Also - I should have pushed myself harder, I was making sure my legs were fresh for the run and should have hit it about 20% more. Transition 2
Comments: I had a good T2. I put on some suntan lotion (I have had skin cancer and it is a must) which killed my time a bit but other than that I was happy. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: My run was by far the best part of my race finishing right around the Top 30% in the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: I met up with my family and had a good pasta dish at the post race picnic. What limited your ability to perform faster: I would say 2 major things: 1. I really should have spent more time training on my swimming. 2. A mountain bike is fun and great for my first tri - but really hampers your ability to bring in a good time. Event comments: I loved this race - I am planning on doing at least 5-6 triathlons next year - I will be back to do the Olympic distance next year. Last updated: 2008-08-28 12:00 AM

My drive in took about 30 minutes and then I had to park and get to transition. This took another 30 minutes so I was good and awake by the.
I did some stretching and had a good mile plus walk from the parking garage.
