Pre-race routine:

Ate some cereal when I got up at 3:15AM. Clif bar at 5AM along with 4 sports legs pills.
Event warmup:

None other than a walk to the swim start.
Swim
  • 13m 47s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Caught up to people from the other waves after about 200 meters. The swim was a constant ordeal of maneuvering around people from other waves after that. Right at the end of the swim it became really congested and I wasn't able to move for a little while. I probably lost about 20-30 seconds in the mess. I felt like I was stuck in traffic on the Edens expressway. I guess I shouldn't really expect anything different in the worlds largest/congested triathlon. Not really complaining just stating how it was.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Felt like a good transition other than my wetsuit getting stuck on my heels. Still a pretty slow time.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my transitions more i guess.
Bike
  • 34m 14s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 23.96 mile/hr
Comments:

My legs felt pretty good on the bike. The course was flat and fast compared to the hills I have been riding in Virginia. There were a bunch of neewbies that where riding on the right hand side of the road or the right lane even when they were not passing people. I felt like I was swerving a little more than I should have been to avoid them. I yelled get left to about 20 people during the bike. I hope I didn't hurt their feelings!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Felt like a good transition. Still need some practice.
What would you do differently?:

Practice.
Run
  • 20m 45s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run. To bad I run like a grandma. I paced my self pretty well and maintained pretty constant splits along with a strong finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about 50 yards :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

Plenty of congestion during the race. Long lines for everything including the port-a-johns and getting back into the transition area. The course is flat and fast and it is pretty cool racing along the lake shore drive.
