Swim
Comments: Really aweful swim... I felt fine but my navigation was absolutely terrible! I was all over the place in this one. Wish I could swim in a straight line! Must be something wonky with my stroke to be as off-course as I found myself today. I haven't been swimming much lately, and it showed in my performance on this swim! It didn't help that I was in the second to last wave. The water in this lake was extremely murky, and so much silt had been churned up that when I put my face in the water I couldn't even see my own hands, much less any feet ahead of me for drafting. What would you do differently?: Swim straight!! Transition 1
Comments: Eh - just your average transition. I wasn't out there to win anything in this race... I've never really put too much effort into speeding up my transitions. I guess I could gain a little time overall if I did that... What would you do differently?: Not much - just move a little more quickly... Bike
Comments: The bike was fun! Since it was such a short bike leg, I just sort of cranked it out. Definitely lost steam on the few small up-grades... Passed a lot of folks, and got past by a few from the wave behind me. What would you do differently?: I probably could have pushed just a bit harder. Got a little lazy on those up-grades... Transition 2
Comments: Not much to say here. Transition was okay. Again, could go faster if I wanted to... What would you do differently?: Get a little more efficient/faster on my transitions. Run
Comments: Pretty good run for me! I think this is my first triathlon run with a sub-9 min/mile pace! Not bad considering how little training I've done lately! Ran at a fairly easy pace, though - definitely could have pushed harder - being a race & all... What would you do differently?: Push a little harder on the run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Sucky swim, not pushing as hard as I could on bike & run. Event comments: Nice little race. For a small event, there were lots of pretty competetive folks out there today! It was nice to go into a race with pretty much no expectations - just out for fun with some friends. I was pleased with my times, especially considering how little training I've done lately. I had a good time out there today. Last updated: 2008-08-31 12:00 AM
