Run
Comments: I am really happy with this race. I raced it like I trained, and happily, I did not have one second of ITB discomfort! I was not in it for speed today - I was in it to finish feeling good, and like I had put forth a good, smart effort, for ME. It was nice and cool, and fortunately for the 10 mile folks, the rain started about 1:30 into the race. It drizzled through mile 9, then rained pretty steadily for mile 10. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. I couldn't control the rain:). Post race
Warm down: Stopping brought on an immediate chill, with harder rain and no where to really dry off. There were changing tents, thankfully, and I did get into some drier clothes, but when you're soaked through, nothing feels very dry. I got some food, including warm chicken broth, and then headed to the car to get into dry shoes and head home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure that right now my training is meant for speed. I am happy with this, given that my HR was in check and I never hurt! Seattle is in 8 weeks and this was the perfect tune up. Event comments: I will definitely enter the lottery and try to get in this race again! Last updated: 2008-08-31 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, got dressed, stretched on the foam roller, ate a banana & Baker's Breakfast Cookie, packed my car and headed out by 5:20. Drove to St. Paul - the finish of the race - and found a parking spot without too much difficulty. Ran into a colleague and his wife & friend, so walked with them to the shuttle bus back to Minneapolis for the race start. Waited inside the Metrodome until it was time to go out and line up. (Observed: NO LINES for the women's bathrooms, but lines for the men's! Go figure!)
Headed out of the Dome at 7:00 for our 7:13 start. Dropped my sweats bag in the bin and jogged to my corral for the start. Only had to wait about 3 minutes until the start. Good timing!
