Swim
Comments: Definitely my strong suit. I think I violated a few men from the older wave in front of us. I was pretty proud to be the first one from our wave, consisting of 3 age groups 20-35, out of the water. What would you do differently?: Not much - I slacked a little coming out of the water to T1. I could've shaved a few seconds here. Transition 1
Comments: I had never done this before for time - I didn't have any major blunders because it was thought out. What would you do differently?: I used T1 as an oppurtunity to breath a little. Looking back I could have saved about a minute here by gradually catching my breath on the bike. Bike
Comments: I need to focus on some bike training. This is definitely where a lot of folks shined. I also noticed it was mostly the guys with the fancy Tri/Aero bikes that were smoking me. What would you do differently?: Ahhhhh - the bike penalty of overtaken. +2minutes. Blah. I'll be more careful about that one! I'd like to keep building my distance training and then get out and do some hill training. Transition 2
Comments: I had a little advantage here by using the cages on my uncle's bike. All I had to do was slip my helmet off and throw on my race belt and go... What would you do differently?: I would have jumped off my bike a bit quicker and jogged to my rack spot. Still - not a bad T time. Run
Comments: It was a good run - I could have pushed my time down if I had really tried, but I was on the verge of cramping (water bottle fell off my bike at the very beggining of bike) and had to keep myself in check... What would you do differently?: Hydrate/electrolyte more properly and punched in 6:00 miles to save 3 minutes. Post race
Warm down: Throw on the sweats and do a few stretches. What limited your ability to perform faster: Biking inexperience and T inexperience. Event comments: I had a blast at the race. The crowd was into it and the location was great! Last updated: 2008-09-02 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:30 ate some fruit with yogurt & cereal plus a slice of toast with PB. Yum! Drove 50 minutes to race. Got there a little before 7. Thankfully, I had labeled and prepared everything the night before, so I was not stressed at all.
Windmill circles, brisk job (to a tree to pee on) and then some active stretching.
