Swim
Comments: This was my first Tri, so I learned a lot from this swim. Although I started off great, I got completely overwhelmed with all of the tugging and yanking people did. I was not aware it would be that physical in the water. Lesson learned! After basically getting close to panicking, I just did breast stroke for the final 600. What would you do differently?: Start out of the pack and pace myself better. Transition 1
Comments: First transition was obviously slow, but I was pretty happy with it. There was one exception. When I got to my bike, spectators were in the transition area and someone had put there umbrella and raincoat on my bike. I was pissed after the bad swim and threw them in the water. What would you do differently?: I need to work on transitions. The area was wet and I had a lousy position, I need to practice a lot. Bike
Comments: I was on a borrowed bike. The day before, I rode the course, and noticed I could not get on my big gear. I brought the bike into the shop and had it fixed, but race day I couldn't get into my small gear. Boy did that hurt on the way up those hills! What would you do differently?: Train more for hills. Ride a better bike. Transition 2
Comments: I actually thought my T2 was OK. I did take a couple of extra seconds to refuel for the run though, which hurt my time. I had a gel and some water. What would you do differently?: I need to work on transitions. First race though. I was pretty happy and felt good going into the run. Run
Comments: The run is by far my weakest event. In fact, I did not really train for it like I should have. It is probably the first time I have ever run 3 miles straight in my entire life. I think the last my was my fastest, but that's because it was all downhill :-) What would you do differently?: Train, Train, Train. Post race
Warm down: I was so excited to actually finish that I didn't really warm down. I just went with my family and friends over to Johny Ange's and had a couple beers and a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was very happy for my first Tri! I am going to continue to train hard, and take 21 minutes off of my time for next year. Event comments: I can't wait for next year's event. This is such a great venue. Beautiful lake, challenging hills, great town. I am TOTALLY hooked! Last updated: 2008-09-02 12:00 AM

Skaneateles Labor Day Race Weekend
Precipitation
Overall Rank = 386/478
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 38/42
Wet morning, so ate a couple power bars and set up in the rain. Not a whole lot of time to warm up and the conditions sucked. It was perfectly clear everywhere in the Northeast except in a small circle of storms over Skaneateles.
Very Little. Short jog.
