Overall Rank = 3/235
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 2/23
Pre-race routine:

Stayed up in Boulder the night before. Usual breakfast and coffee. I planned on racing again in the afternoon, but I told myself one race at a time. Give this one everything I had and hope there would be a little left for the 5k in downtown Denver.
Event warmup:

A few pickups and maybe a 150 m in the Rez.
Swim
  • 15m 32s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Just an ok swim. Thought I swam a lot faster than this though. There was a boat in the water pushing waves on the swimmers. Kinda sucked but just dealt with it and breathed the opposite side of the waves.
What would you do differently?:

Swim harder! I always swim at a comfortable pace. I think I need to step out of my comfort zone and swim like it's a race
Transition 1
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Long run up to transition. Everything went as planned.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 02m 41s
  • 26.09 miles
  • 24.97 mile/hr
Comments:

I love this course. It's just a fast course with a enough hills to break up the drafters. Caught a guy on a Cervelo and he was sucking my wheel so I yelled at him. That's become my ritual. Broke the hour right at the 25 mile mark so I took the oppurtunity to get a gel and a sip of Infinit in before the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

Not a whole lot to talk about. Got in and got out as quick as I could.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up!
Run
  • 26m 15s
  • 4 miles
  • 06m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Got off the bike and just hammered what I could without popping. Picked off a couple of guys. Got passed by another that I caught just going into T2. He was in a previous wave so I already 10 minutes on him. Fast runner though.
What would you do differently?:

I'm happy with this cuz running isn't really my strong point, but it's getting there.
Post race
Warm down:

Went and soaked in the lake a little bit. I figured it was the best thing I could do as I was planning on racing again that afternoon.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim was definitely mid-pack. So that's a weakness I need to work on.

Event comments:

I like this course. The race itself is just ok. It never seems very well organized. Meg and I went to Whole Foods for lunch and headed to Denver for race #2.
