Comments: Found a good spot on the edge of the pack and avoided some of the mob, but still this was a rough one - a lot of leg grabbing etc. Course felt long and the lake was quite choppy but a good swim overall. Transition 1
Comments: First time using clipless to race - struggled a little getting clipped in. What would you do differently?: Practice the rubber band technique! Bike
Comments: Expected a smooth flat ride - was surprised a little by the slopes which you don't notice when driving. Didn't feel too strong but finished exact middle of my age group so I guess it was OK. What would you do differently?: Still pretty much a beginner cyclist - must get in more training time! Comments: A little slow Run
Comments: After a short flat run on the grass, the course went straight up a steep hill and my lower legs tightened up very badly. Extremely sore and tight. I had to stop a couple of times to stretch and walk even though I didn't feel too aerobically tired. Ran OK on the way back (down hill). Broke the 10min mile barrier which was my 'bare minimum' goal. What would you do differently?: Run fitness was improved since last time but the legs were so sore... Need to run more and build a better base over the winter. 36/38 for the run in AG? Kind of disappointed. Post race

Arrived fairly early and good a good bike spot...
Then stood around with wife and sister-in-law (who also raced) making each other nervous.
Man I hate that feeling before a race.
A little jogging / light stretching.
Need to do more warmup next time.
