Swim
Comments: not my worst swim at all; the start was kind of a kick-fest but once everyone spread out it was fine. my breathing was good. Did freestyle the entire time. Why am I so SLOW in OWS's?? I can do a 100 in 2:15 in the pool. sigh. What would you do differently?: I guess I need to practice open water swims. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was good. I am sticking with no bike gloves. Also I didnt rinse off my feet - they were already dry, so I just wiped off any dirt and threw my socks on. ( I am NOT ready to go sockless!!) Bike
Comments: Good ride; only got passed by a few people. Rolling hills. What would you do differently?: I need to do hills. 'The only way to get better at hills is to DO HILLS' Transition 2
Comments: A guy racked my bike for me! I told him it felt like IMLP. LOL. but unfortunately the bike ended up falling on my next door neigbors' stuff, which really sucked because that was LISA's spot. SORRY Lisa! :( Overall a fine tranny. What would you do differently?: Don't trust others to rack my bike!! Run
Comments: GRR! I started out fine; shuffled up the hill directly out of the trans area -so was pleased with that. Kept a good pace thru mile 2, I thought, based on RPE. (my garmin battery was dead). Totally ran out of gas at the beginning of mile 3- I felt like my tank was empty. I walked up the hill after gulping a cup of water, (woulda taken gatorade but felt a little nauseous) then ran the rest of the way to the finish line. Since I ended up with 12-min miles with the walk, I think I might have gone out too fast and flamed out. oh well. What would you do differently?: I just need to stick with my running training. I'm definitely getting better but still have a lot of work to do! Post race
Warm down: Found Lisa and her parents - and ate some food, drank some gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: fitness level and weight. Event comments: The event started late I think because of the cleanup involved with the tropical storm - so no worries there. I am so glad the RD didn't cancel the race, it was a PeRFECT day! Great race, well-run, I'd totally do this one again. Am also glad they put the newbies at the last waves too; that helped to keep the field safe for the more experienced racers. Was a great race for first-timers, I'd encourage any newbies to do this one! Last updated: 2008-09-04 12:00 AM

Bagel with PB and some water; drove to Hopkinton with Lisa, our bikes having fun on the roof rack on top of her car! Lisa's parents were there to cheer for us which was really sweet.
took a quick swim in the water to acclimate to the temp and the slight chop in the water.
