Swim
Comments: Being my first time I was not nervous at all I just wanted to get started. I started off in the middle of the pack and kept a steady speed concentrating on breathing. After I rounded the buoy I gave it all I had. I was passing people, it was awesome What would you do differently?: Start faster next time and be more aggressive for positions. Transition 1
Comments: It went pretty good for my first transition. I ran to my spot and got there fairly quickly. I wore a normal suit with under amour under them, so ripped the suit off and put cloths, socks, and shoes on and took off for the exit What would you do differently?: not spend as much time drying my feet and putting socks on. Bike
Comments: The bike leg came before I knew it and I wasn't mentally ready, but got over that in the first mile. I started strong but the long hills are what kill me. I would pass people on the straight aways and down hills. They passed me going up hill. I thought the course was fun and challenging. Rough rail road crossings with scattered water bottles after them. What would you do differently?: Practice more on the bike. Practice more hills. I new this was my weakest part. Transition 2
Comments: I was close to the bike entrance so that helped out a lot. I lost some time putting tape on my nipples because They will bleed during the race If I don't. Jogged to the exit and shook my hands off. What would you do differently?: Tape earlier or lose weight so I don't have to tape. other than that nothing. Run
Comments: The run was solid for me. I did not stop running once and held a great pace. I had a hard time drinking water at the water stations because I was breathing hard. Didn't get to drink much water. The hill was steep but I kept at it and didn't stop. The run down was great and was actually passing people while running. Sprinted to the finish line. I was happy about the run. What would you do differently?: I would drink water exiting the transition area while jogging. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and ate some fruit and drank water. Went to transition area and stretched out. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really held me back. Event comments: Being my first triathlon I didn't have many expectations going in and just wanted to have fun. I definitely had fun and got to meet a few people. I was happy about my results and I am already looking at the schedule for the next one. This race was a lot more than a race for me. I lost 120 pounds in 7 months for me to get to where I am today. If I hadn't lost the weight I would have never ran this triathlon. I am looking forward to the next one. Last updated: 2008-09-04 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:15 ate a English muffin with egg whites and dried blueberries. Headed to race, ate a banana and drank lots of water. I live 20 minutes from the race so that worked out great.
Parked about 3/4 mile away and biked to transition area for warm-up. Ate half an energy bar before the race. I also swam a little will the other waves were starting.
