Swim
Comments: I swam mostly breast stroke, just wanted to finish and not be completely out of breath. Glad my wave was last so I didn't have people swimming over me. I actually passed some different colored heads along the way, that was encouraging. What would you do differently?: Need to practice swiming alot more. Transition 1
Comments: First time, so I didn't really know what to expect. Long way from water to bike and then from bike to start. What would you do differently?: Did not practice transition before race, only brick from bike to run. Need to scout transition area better before race. Don't mess with sunscreen and clean off feet before strepping on towel. Bike
Comments: I think I'm pretty decent on biking. I was afraid to go all out and not have enough for the run. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder and not coast as much. Transition 2
Comments: Made the mistake of undoing laces on shoes AND clipping out. Had to stop and take off shoes and run barefoot. What would you do differently?: Get out of shoes, but leave them clipped in. Run
Comments: Followed advice and strecthed on bike near the end so I had no problems with cramping. Also practiced many bricks so I was up to speed preety quickly. My training runs were 9:30-10:00 so I was pleased with my time. Also my brother gave me great advice about folding the top of the cup of water so you can sip and run. What would you do differently?: Maybe pick up the pace a little further out for the home stretch. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit, then straight for the beer tent. Had a Clif Bar and some bad pizza. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience with this sport and poor swimming. Event comments: Great volunteers, especially the lady at the top of the steepest hill by RunTex! Last updated: 2008-09-04 12:00 AM

Up at 5:30. Had a protein shake and a banana. Racked bikes the day before and set up transition at around 6:45. My wave was last so I had to wait over an hour to swim. Plenty of time to get nervous. Luckily I ran into an old friend from college (also doing first triathlon) and joked around a little.
Only stretching, no swim warm-up allowed.
