![]() Swim
Comments: I had never attempted an open water swim before in my entire life. I had never swam that far in my entire life in or out of a pool. So I wasn't expecting to have a great swim time. I just wanted to complete it. What would you do differently?: Practice. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Never having done/practiced a transition before & only having watching a video on how to set it up through this website, it was shaky & slow. I wasn't expecting to have a great transition, just wanted to get through it ok & i did. What would you do differently?: practice ![]() Bike
Comments: Having bought a road bike 3 wks prior to this event & very little training/experience riding ... I didn't do to bad. I did have a set back when the computer on my bike fell off during the middle of my ride & I had to stop ride back, pick it up, put it back on the bike, & then get back up to pace. So that set me back a bit. Other than that I felt that I didn't to do bad. What would you do differently?: practice ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I rode without a shirt on so I had to put on my shirt for the run which already had my bib number pined to it. The shirt was a tight fitting dry fit shirt & got extremely tangled when trying to put it on. So that was a minor setback because I had to take it off & put it back on & untangle it. What would you do differently?: Use a belt that has the number on it rather than the dry fit shirt or use a different type of shirt. ![]() Run
Comments: The run was not bad except I tried for the first time wearing tri-shorts throughout the race, first time every wearing tri-shorts, therefore I had some nasty rubbing between the legs. Therefore the entire running portion I spent tugging, pulling, & trying to stop the rubbing. What would you do differently?: Practice wearing different types of shorts, tri-shorts, ect. & to swim, bike, & run with them on to find something that is comfortable. ![]() Post race
Warm down: I had no warm-down. I finished the run, had a seat to catch my breath, grabbed some water & that was it. What limited your ability to perform faster: Practice, experience, comfortability. Having absolutely no training & making the decision to do this event at 12pm on Sat. with the race at 7am on Sun. I didn't do to bad for my first triathlon. Event comments: Overall it was a good experience. I will be doing another sprint triathlon in 5 weeks therefore I can train a little bit, which I think will make a big difference. I ate a energy bar for breakfast, loaded up my gear into my car, & I was off. This was my first tri (participating in or watching) so I had no pre-race routine/warm-up/anything. I set up & took off.
I didn't get there in enough time to warm up at all. I got there with enough time to set up my transition area, change, walk to the beach & we had 5 mins to start time.
