Swim
Comments: This was only my second Tri and the first time I raced out of a pool and the first time I swam with a wetsuit. I entered the water a few minutes before the start to test my wetsuit and I had no trouble at all to adjust with the increased buoyancy and feel. It was soooo confortable! Once the race got started my confort level declined significantly. During my first 200 to 300m I felt caught in the middle of a heard of wild beasts. I had continuous contacts with all swimmers around me front, sides, back. Once I managed to break free from the pack and swim on the sides things got better, I could now pace myself and just concentrate on the swimming. I did however have trouble swimming straight. I must have added several meters with all the zigzags I made. What would you do differently?: I'm not sure, I guess I must do some searching and reading to see how others cope with this. Transition 1
Comments: I have old SPD shoes with laces. After my first tri, I changed the shoelaces with elastics and that helped with my time. I also raced with no socks. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I installed my front weel with the spedometer magnet on the wrong side. I therefore had no idea of my speed during the race. What would you do differently?: The obvious ;-) Transition 2
Run
Comments: Performed my best time ever! Post race
Event comments: Great race! Truly motivated me to pursue my trainning throughout the winter. I hope to complete an Oly tri next season. Particularly enjoyed the camaraderie. See you next season Chipit! Last updated: 2008-09-07 12:00 AM
