Swim
Comments: The swim felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Run a little more on the way out of the water Transition 1
Comments: Didn't ask for my T1 time. Bike
Comments: And here comes the DNF. Noticed the front wheels was sounding a bit odd on the way out of transition, but thought it was just brake rubbing. Less than a mile into the course I realized I had a flat. Pulled off and got my new toolkit and spare tube out (just picked that stuff up on Friday). Apparently the tire bead came out of the wheel on the back side, and when I put air into it, it just blew up. And that was it. Walked back until the SAG wagon gave me a ride back. What would you do differently?: Well, I think what happened was the rim tape wasn't completely covering 1 of the spoke holes. So I bought some new tubes on the way home and I've got the front in the living room waiting to see if it wants to pop. So far so good. Transition 2

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Flat tires. I really should have spent more time on the new wheels before I raced on them, but since I was recovering from bronchitis I picked up after my last race (2 weeks ago) I took the last few days easy. Before next year I definitely intend to put some miles on these wheels and make sure that they are good to go. I may also change tubes as practice a few times to make sure I know what I'm doing. Event comments: Unless the roads get fixed before next year I will not do this race again. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM
