Swim
Comments: The swim went pretty well. I got stuck in a little bit of traffic on the 1st leg, but I was in open water for most of it. It felt a lot like a training swim. As expected, there was some conjestion at the corner buoys. What would you do differently?: I think I swam my plan, I really can't think of anything to differently at this point. Transition 1
Comments: This was an interesting T-1. There was a fairly long run from the swim exit to the changing area, including a good stretch on the "helix" a cement circular ramp leading to our destination level. I didn't wear a try suit under my wet suit, so I lost some time in getting my jersey and bike shorts on my partially wet body. The distance from the changing area to the bikes was long, so I carried my shoes and put them on at the bike and walked my bike to the mounting line. What would you do differently?: I could run more of the distance from the swin exit to the changing area. Bike
Comments: I think I may have gone a little too strong on the first leg, even though I felt good. I got a little nausiated at around mile 80. I didn't take anything, but switched to water instead of gatorade, and that seemed to help. What would you do differently?: Have more discipline on the first loop, and try to finish the second loop more strong. Transition 2
Comments: I did a full clothing change in t-2. What would you do differently?: I could have more of a sense of urgency, but I viewed it as an opportunity to calm my brain and recover a bit. Run
Comments: I planned on doing a 3 min run/2 min walk routine, but that was hard for me to keep up with. I met up with a guy my age who planned on walking the whole race. We ended up doing some walk/run. I later fell into a 40 step run by 20 step walk pattern that worked out very well at the later stages of the race. I developed a bad blister on the bottom of my right foot, so that made it tougher to run. What would you do differently?: Slow down earlier, and have a better blister prevention plan. Post race
Warm down: There wasn't much of a need for a warm-down as we walked the last 10 miles anyway. Event comments: This was an extremely well organized race. The volunteers were awsome. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM

We got up at 3:30AM, ate three pieces of white bread toast with peanut butter. I drank a little water at home.
Not much warm-up, we walked the distance from the convention center to the swim entrance. After getting in the water, we swam about 200 yards to our self-seeding positions about 2/3rds of the way back in the pack
