Transition 1
What would you do differently?: A few more run throughs would have been really good to be more ready for the disorientation after getting out of the water. Bike
Comments: I didn't consume enough water to prep for the run though I ran out of water and drank a bottle at each exchange. What would you do differently?: I would just have throw away water bottles at the start of the race so at the exchange I could take two new ones as well as a third to rest on my aero bars if necessary. Transition 2
Comments: I needed to go to use the restroom so bad that I wasn't paying attention to well to my transition so I fell when getting off the bike. What would you do differently?: Not fall off my bike Run
Comments: The run opened really well, I felt good confident and strong but I pushed my heart rate too high and I didn't consume enough salts and carbs to run at such a high heart rate. I bonked after about 5 miles and struggled the rest of the run. What would you do differently?: Focus more on consuming water, carbs, and salt during the bike and transition perhaps to prep for the run as well as pay closer attention to staying at a lower more comfortable heart rate. Warm down: Fall down and wiggle and generally be in pain. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bonking Event comments: This was a great event especially for my first 1/2 Iron not to mention my first tri. I had a blast and cant wait to do it again next year. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM
