Comments: The breaks helped thin out the crowd from the get go. I didn't hit much traffic until catching the previous wave. I heard some guys after the race comment on the currents, but I had no issues. I did drink a lot of salt water though. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Going into the transistion I felt good, but all that water I ingested hit me when I got into the transistion area. I nearly vomited all over the aisle between bike racks. I walked over to a trash can to get it all out, but I was able to hold myself together and walked the rest of the way to my bike. ![]() Bike
Comments: A great course! A very good sampling of neighborhoods in LA, from the exlcusive Hancock Park neighborhood, to the poor, gang ridden MacArthur Park. I especially enjoyed the downhill portion in Downtown where I got up to 40mph! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: good enough, no complaints ![]() Run
Comments: The hill up Grand was brutal. I jogged up the first half and power walked up the second half on both laps. I met a guy at a training session who recommended this and I'm glad I followed his advice. I had been training for hils, but not this steep of a hill. Atleast I wasn't the only one walking. Running is my weak event, but I felt pretty good afterwards, with just enough energy for a sprint to the finish once I made the turn on to 11th. ![]() Post race
Warm down: I had consumed so many liquids during the race that I had really had to pee after the race! After getting my medal I headed straight for the porta-potties. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing, I felt great. Event comments: This was only my 3rd tri, but it was definitely the best so far. A bit pricey, but they did have to have cops on almost every corner. It was worth the cost though just to be able to ride down Wilshire in the Miracle Mile with absolutely no cars! I'm sure I'll do it again next year just because of the proximity to my apartment. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM

Set the alarm for 5am, as I live about 1 mile from the start of the race. Woke up at 4 but could not go back to sleep. Double checked my bags and equipment and ate a couple of granola bars and had a cup of coffee.
rode my bike to T1 with my wife, didn't have to worry about parking as we only live a mile or so away from the start. did the usual stretches and hit the head twice. start times were actually ahead of schedule so I almost missed my wave's start.
