Run
Comments: Started with Shelly in a huge crowd, first couple of miles it was simply impossible to go any faster than 10:15 or so. Beautiful morning, crowds, spectators, whole nine yards. I felt great and happy. We had to run some hills first two miles, but what goes up must come down and when we hit Spout Run it was all downhill for a while. When we got to George Town Slake and Tim jumped out of the spectator crowd to take some pictures. It was great to see them. As we approached mile 16 Shelly and i decided to run at different paces. Last 10 miles I ran alone. At that point I had tons of energy left in me and i decided to give it all i have left. I flew through miles 17-20, and then fatigue slowly started getting to me. The worse part was Crystal City where I saw huge crowd running towards Pentagon after the turn round point somewhere... that somewhere was about a mile away and i did not know that... it really made me angry since i just wanted to be finished. Passed the Pentagon, exited to Rout 27, exited to Rout 110... and there it was, the longest 1.5 miles I ever ran... It was endless. I saw a guy who was crying in pain and i ran with him for a little bit trying to tell him that we were almost there. Turned to the Iwo Jima hill... It was one very, very steep hill. Couple of minutes later i was done!!! I was very happy to stop running. What would you do differently?: Not sure ;) Post race
Warm down: Stood in line to get my medal with my legs quitting on me, found BITM, waited for Shells to finish, took pictures, headed to Wurkit's for some yummy food. Event comments: Great race. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM

Up at 5:15, breakfast, drove to Rosslyn with BITM, NL, Shelly, and Suppers. Just as we exited from 66 the Marines closed ll the roads, so we had to park in some neighborhood that was about 1.5 from the start. Walking back would be hard...
Took lots of pictures, said bye to BITM (he was in a faster corral) and headed to find a porta-potty with Shelly.
