Swim
Comments: Water temps were perfect and felt pretty comfortable for the 1/4 mile. I sorta hit a wall at that point and was having a harder time tracking. I had my goggles knocked off a few times, but I was able to flip onto my back and fix them pretty easy. I never lost the goggles since I had them run under my swimcap. What would you do differently?: Track better and start further to the outside. Transition 1
Comments: I was pretty tired after the swim and there were a series of 20 +/- steps from the beach up to the transition area. I started running up the steps, but ended up walking the last set. I wasn't wearing a wetsuit, so it was pretty easy getting my shoes on and on my bike. I found my bike easily too, so that helped. Bike
Comments: I am a pretty good cyclist and this is my favorite part of the race. I wasn't sure what I would have left in me for the run, so I didn't push too much. Just stuck to my pace and had fun with it. What would you do differently?: Push harder. I had too much left in me when I finished. Transition 2
Comments: I dismounted my bike and was in my shoes with ease. I found my spot in the rack really quick too. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: I had done a few bricks in the past, but my legs still didn't like the adjustment to running. I felt so horrible for the first mile. Once I got my legs back in order, I was able to step it up a bit and have fun again. What would you do differently?: Kick more at the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Slow jog and some stetching What limited your ability to perform faster: not know exactly what to expect since this was my first triathlon. Event comments: I had a lot of fun and overall it was a huge success for me. My goal was 2 hours and I had 2 hours 22 seconds. Last updated: 2008-09-10 12:00 AM

I had been sleep deprived all week, so I went to bed at 9pm the night before to try to catch up a little. I woke up at 5pm and ate breakfast with my 17 mounth old daughter and wife. Did the 45 minute drive with no problems and arrived with 40 minutes to spare.
For warmup I did a short slow jog and some easy out and backs once I was in the water. The air temps were a little cold and I didn't have a wetsuit, so once I was in the water, I stayed in the water.
