Comments:

Tried to take it out real easy. Unfortunately I started out a little bit fast but after about 5 minutes I settled down and dropped into a comfortable pace. Got a sideache about 5 minutes in, probably from going a bit faster than I wanted to. The course was fairly flat and pretty easy. Didn't really push much on this. Ended up very near the back but I went a time that I wanted to go.

Comments:

This course was basically just one giant hill. I haven't been biking as much as I should have lately and it showed. I passed about 5 people in the first 5 minutes and probably another 10 or so by the end of the bike. The first ascent up the hill wasn't too bad. I was spinning nicely up and did an excellent job of controlling my climb I think. Pushed it moderately on the downhill and was able to peddle a little to push myself faster. Once I turned onto hill road I carried quite a bit of speed almost all the way out to Highway 55 and passed about 5-6 people. Hit the turnaround and headed back. I got my cadence up pretty good like I wanted to until I hit Seaman's Gulch again. This was just brutal for me. I was in my granny gear before I even hit the hard part of the road. So I just pushed through it and passed a few more people going up again. Once I hit the top I was exhausted and just let gravity work for me while doing a nice easy spin to losen my legs up a bit.

Comments:

Well I was pretty spent from the bike aleady so I wasn't able to execute my race plan which had been to try and hammer out the last run. I found a steady pace and just held it. I passed about 5 more people and got passed by 2 people, so overall I did ok. I had been hoping to have a little more energy for that and was going to try and hammer out a 25 if I could. Not happening.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, grabbed some bananas and water.

Event comments:

Well I think if I had been on my bike more the last 3-4 weeks this could have gone according to my plan. I wasn't really mentally in it today either. I noticed a few times I was just plodding along not really paying attention to racing. This race focuses on my weaknesses alot which is why I did it and I think overall I did ok.
