it was really rough and I had a hard time staying on course. alot of guys were in my wave and I hit I don't know how many others. I'm still holding back, thinking I'll burn myself out and not pushing it.

ran into the trans, put on the helmet and took off on the bike. jump mounted it and rode till i got up to about 17 mph before I put my cleats on. It was a good idea to do that, cause I passed a few guys who were still strapping in.

had feet out of the shoes while riding the last few feet. dismounted and my shoe came out of the pedal so i had to stop and go back for it. I kinda screwed around to be honest while putting my shoes on.

Damm cleat came off and slowed me down a few seconds

once I got out and started running, i think i held back, by around mile 1.5 my calf hurt *(which i injured and kept me off training for 2 weeks) so once it started hurting, i kinda slowed down, not wanting to re-injure it. so i think i could have pused a bit harder. As I crossed, my wife said that I didn't even look tired.
What would you do differently?:

give myself ample time to heal and get over this injury.

Course: North, had a cross wind for the first 1/4 till you turned east and went up and down three bridges. EEXTREMELY strong head wind and it slowed me WAY down. But it was good cause others were struggling and I caught a few just by pushing through. not much of a cross wind comming south b/c housing was blocking it. Turned West and had another tall bridge to go up. It was down wind and I stayed at about 20mph going up it. On the way down, LOOK OUT!!! i hit 40mph!!! kept peddling as hard as i could to make up some time. went so fast, i got alittle scared...NOT. it was fun
