![]() Swim
Comments: Had mixed feelings about my swim goals. Unlike previous TRIs where I normally stay in the back and to the outside, I decided that I would start up front, and in the middle so I would have some experience in the fray in prep for the B2B mass swim start. This was a pretty brutal swim as there were probably 80 guys in my wave and I was in the middle. I immediately decided that I would stand my ground and fight through it and thought I did pretty well. Even though my time was slower than last year I learned several things. First: When an over-agressive swimmer continues to crawl up you back, and good strong kick is invalueable. And keeping a high elbow is also valuble when said swimmer attempts to cut across your body after failed attempts of swimming over you....heh...heh... I don't think I'll start up front and in the middle at B2B but I finally believe I can handle a moderate amount of mauling thats bound to happen between the 2 min T Pace guys like me. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Swim faster? ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Transitions? Check. Fastest Transition in AG and one of the fastest overall. Even with wetsuit. I got that shite down. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: Bike portion went well. Didn't over-push it as didn't feel like I needed too. I felt strong the entire ride. Steadily passed riders the entire ride, and was only passed by 5 or 6 guys. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Fastest Transition in AG and I think 5th fastest overall. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Run
Comments: Run went well. Had hoped to get in the 20s.....Oh well. Wasn't passed by anyone. Steadily passed runners the whole race. Even passed a couple in the chute after some urging from the brown_dog family cheering section. Thanks guys! What would you do differently?: Nothing? Run faster. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked for a couple of minutes. Got some food and chatted with friends until transition was re-opened so I could claim my gear. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: Overall I'm pleased. I've been steadily getting faster each year (Over 3 minutes this year) and hopefully next year will be well below 1:10. Great Race! I love this sport. Woke up at 4 am. Ate a bagel, drank 16 oz of NUUN. Packed up the gear and out the door at 5 am for the 1 hour drive to Lake Lanier Islands. Drank 8 ounces of perpetum about 45 minutes from the start.
Arrived shortly after 6 am and had to walk about a half of a mile to the transition area. Picked up my race packet, my chip, got marked and moved to my transition area. Had a great spot right next to the run out transition mat. Decided to wear my wetsuit to get a full speed transition practice. Went to the lake and swam about 300 yards for a warm up and waited for my wave.
